On-line Application for a Certificate
This service enables users to apply for a certificate issued by Organisational Units of the Public Administration by filling in an electronic form.
The Organisational Unit issuing the certificate will send to the e-mail address indicated by the applicant the electronic notification relating to:
a) receipt of the application;
b) notice that the requested certificate can be collected at the Organisational Unit concerned or at the post office selected at the time of the application.
The application is deemed not to have been fulfilled if the applicant does not receive the notification referred to in letter a) above within two working days of submitting the application.
Upon collection of the certificate, the applicant shall show the operator the notice referred to in letter b) above. The notice in letter b) above will not be sent in case of certificates issued by the Organisational Unit pertaining to the Judicial Offices of the Court. Such certificates shall be collected according to the timing indicated in the specific application form.
If the application for a certificate is submitted on behalf of a person other than the applicant, the original proxy shall be provided at the time of collection, together with a copy of the identity document of the person to whom the certificate refers. Proxies are not required for legal representatives and for anyone exercising parental authority or guardianship.
The operator shall also verify the identity of the applicant, who shall therefore submit an identity document or driving licence.
If the certificate is collected by a person other than the applicant, the operator shall be entitled to refuse delivery of the documents.
The certificate can be collected either at the issuing office or - if there are no constraints related to the specific nature of the certificate - at post offices, taking advantage of their wide distribution throughout the territory and of their extended opening hours.
Applications for a certificate are processed as soon as possible by the issuing office, which shall send to the e-mail address indicated by the applicant a notification of receipt of the application and a notice that the certificate can be collected at the indicated place.
Without prejudice to the provisions of special laws, the issuance of a certificate applied for is subject to the payment of the following stamp duties (Delegated Decree no. 18/2021):
a) EUR 15.00 (fifteen/00) for:
1) certificates issued by public offices, entities and bodies, excluding civil registration certificates, for which a stamp duty of EUR 3.00 (three/00) shall be paid. For the purposes of this letter a), certificate means the administrative document whose issuance is based solely on the extraction of data and information present in the databases of State and Public Bodies, without any further search, acquisition and processing activities by the public office, entity and body;
2) criminal records and certificates of pending charges.
